The
Underground Mine Track Service is aimed chiefly at minimizing
and keeping under control all variables
as well as the unexpected by clearing away all matter dropped
and left on haulage tracks, thus decreasing wear and tear
on tires as a result of accidents, increasing a tire’s
useful life span and keeping equipment ready for work.
The service uses trained and competent personnel because of
extreme operating conditions and involves mechanics, operators and signalmen. Mini-loaders
are also used for cleaning production tracks first of all.
With action taken aimed at decreasing wear and tear on tires, any improvement
project is based on increasing the average maximum number of hours’ performance
of 29.5R29 tires that are done away with due to cuts in tread band, which means
increasing hours prior to the tires becoming worn. The savings from this improvement
lead automatically to the customer purchasing less tires in the long run.
Causes that contribute toward the poor state of haulage tracks
. Excessive
loads placed in trucks in the bays deform tires and also lead
to matter being spilled along the tracks.
. Small
accidental spills from the bays after loading
